Farewell to ‘devoted mum and caring friend’

THERE was standing room only at the funeral of a “devoted mother” and “caring friend” who was found dead at her home. More than 100 mourners attended the service yesterday at Overdale Crematorium’s West Chapel as friends and relatives said goodbye to Lynn Booth. The 42-year-old was found collapsed in her bedroom in Glenbrook Gardens, Farnworth, on February 7 by her children. She leaves her seven children, three grandchildren and her fiance, Jason Aspinall, who proposed to her at Christmas after 12 years together. The coffin arrived accompanied by flowers spelling “Sis” and Truly Madly Deeply, by Savage Garden, played as mourners entered the chapel. The service was conducted by Leslie Gutteridge, who paid tribute to Miss Booth. She said: “Lynn touched the lives of so many people in so many ways and almost without knowing. “Lynn was a devoted mother to all of her children. “She was fiercely proud of their achievements and always tried to create the best environment for them to thrive.” Mrs Gutteridge described Miss Booth as a “kind neighbour and caring friend” and said her parents, David and June, spoke of their daughter with “great fondness and pride”. Miss Booth’s daughter, Stevie Ainsworth, aged 23, read a verse in tribute to her mother and her sisters, Christine Booth and Janet Fitton, shared their memories. They described her as a “strong, independent woman” who loved her children and was a long-standing member of All Saints’ Residents’ Association. One of Miss Booth’s favourite songs, Mad World, by Gary Jules, was played during the service and it ended with Run, by Leona Lewis. Donations were collected in her memory for the special care baby unit at Royal Bolton Hospital, where her youngest child, five-month-old Mia-Grace, spent the first few weeks of her life.
